'86 to '89 frequently came with 3.08 gears (XJs and MJs with 5 speed 4.0 plus '86 2.8L V6 auto rigs) I'm trying to decide whether I'm going to do 1 piece axles in my current Model 15/D35 in my '82 Spirit (don't know the ratio, but I can cruise at 70 with 14" tires) or swap in the Eagle diff. Something appears to be wrong with the diff, but I can't pin point it. I have to drive a ways to get it warmed up, then I get a vibe @ 45 mph and sound like a bearing spinning, yet I can't find slop in it when I check it out. (Other possibility is the 998 lockup converter heading south) I had the RH rear wheel bearing done last summer, along with all brand new brakes (9" drums etc) but after the brakes get warmed up I have a shake when I apply the brakes a lot on say a long hill that gets worse as the brakes warm up more. Just no time to do more than a cursory check. (I put a new Ujoint in last week and got a bad chill just doing that! These old bones don't like the cold as much as I used to. Back in the day I changed freeze plugs laying on an ice puddle from the car that lost the freeze plugs!)
