I'm not 100% certain on the wheel width. I know I ran 205/70 tires on my old 61 American, which would have had the narrow rims. 195s weren't readily available at the time, or I could get 205s a lot cheaper, I forget which (probably the later... that was over 20 years ago when my budget was tight!). The Classic DID get a wider wheel though. The early American got 6" tires, the Classic got 7". 64-65 Americans got 6" tires also, 66 went up a bit to 6.5". I took the liberty to round a couple figures that I looked up in the TSMs. No figures on the rim width, but the tire width is indicative. --------------- Date: Wed, 07 Jan 2009 02:40:42 +0000 From: Wrambler242@xxxxxxxxxxx You sure about wheel rim width on this Frank? My American wheels where only like 5 or 5.5" and the 195/75 was as wide a tire as I'd want on that narrow a rim! I guess perhaps the classic got a wider rim? -- Frank Swygert Publisher, "American Motors Cars" Magazine (AMC) For all AMC enthusiasts http://farna.home.att.net/AMC.html (free download available!) _______________________________________________ Amc-list mailing list Amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://splatter.wps.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/amc-list
