Actually, there's a simple trick to not sliding the head gasket: Make guide pins. Get a couple of bolts the same thread size as the head bolts but longer, cut the bolt heads off and chamfer them so you don't have sharp edges, slot them (think big flat head screws), and install them in the block. You'll then be able to put the head straight down. Once you start a few of the head bolts, all you have to do is back out the guide pins with a flat blade screw driver. You really should drop it exactly straight > down into place with zero sliding. This is not easy. The newer blue > gaskets you assemble dry are a hell of a lot easier for this reason alone! </snip> -- mhaas@xxxxxxx Cincinnati, OH http://www.mattsoldcars.com 1967 Rambler American wagon 1968 Rambler American sedan ================================================================= According to a February 2003 survey of Internet holdouts released by UCLA's Center for Communication Policy, people cite not having a computer as the No. 1 reason they won't go online. _______________________________________________ Amc-list mailing list Amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://splatter.wps.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/amc-list
