That is really cool! Sounds like great progress, and you must feel really good about it. Especially after the long struggle with the rebuild. I might be sending you a note about the carb. You have a 1909 1 Barrel, right? Or do you have a 2 barrel? Anyway, sounds like it must have been a lot of fun to hear it. If you have a digital camera that takes short movie clips - record it and YouTube it! I'd love to hear it. Joe Fulton wrote: > Well, here I am replying to my own message. The engine would not idle at first. It had a freshly rebuilt (my job) RBS carb, so I thought maybe I screwed up on the rebuild. I changed out the carb for another one I had on the bench and it still wouldn't idle. Then I began looking for vacuum leaks. After disconnecting and plugging the vacuum outlets for the dist. advance and the vacuum wipers I finally noticed a missing pipe plug on the intake manifold. Once I plugged that opening, the car settled into a steady idle and I could idle it down like old Ford 8N tractor we had on the farm when I was a kid. In fact, with a little bit of valve clatter (still haven't adjusted them warm) it sounded a whole lot like that old Ford. All in all a good day. This week, I finally start on the fuel tank replacement. Then there's lots of electrical work to do. Temp gauge doesn't work, headlights don't work, and only one tail light works.
