Gas tanks are a pain. Mine's worked out so far. It was pretty crapped up. http://wps.com/AMC/1963-Rambler-American/Gas-tank/ I put a shop vac on BLOW to get the tank gasoline free. No local shop woudl touch the gasoline tank, but I cut my own access holes, got the bulk out, then the local machine sshop had no probelms hot-tanking then media-blasting it inside. I made steel patches, a ring of sheet metal screws and JB welded it. If I was the welder that Frank is, I would have done that. JB Weld claims to be gasoline proof, but I did not want to test that. So after patching, I rinsed with a quart or so of MEK or lacquer thinner, shop vac AGAIN, then used two tank-liner kits. Now no gasoline touches epoxy or the patch or the screws. If I'd had the $500 to spare I might have sent it out! Anecdotally, everyone I've heard who had problems with tank liner liquids didn't, or were unable, to really get it clean inside (eg. media blast). Everyone who did get it insanely clean, I've heard no problems. For waht that's worth. _______________________________________________ Amc-list mailing list Amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://splatter.wps.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/amc-list
