yep, you can shim the pedestals within reason. You don't want to get way carried away with it. Ford small block pedestal shims work for the 5/16" bolt. You can also just find some grade 8 5/16" washers of the right thickness and use those if you lucky enough to find that right thickness. You need GOOD graded stuff though as you don't want it to cock the pedestal. The Fords are rectangular, that does not matter for our engines as our rockers are paired by the pivots.
