I was comparing the new pushrods I bought for my 1972 258, to the ones I took out of it. The new ones are 9.620", and are actually longer than the old ones. I have since found out that 72 non-shaft head pushrods can be as short as 9.595". I haven't miked them yet. I can't afford for them to be longer because I've taken .060" off of the head, and .010" off of the block. I'll gain back about .030 because it had a very thin steel gasket. So, my question is: "can I use shims on the pedestals?" Reccomendations?
