ok, so i went ahead and pulled the bullet out of casper. took all of an hour and a half. had plans of dropping that bullet into the 63 440H. the 440 is auto. casper is manual. got it out, pulled the clutch pack off, and flywheel. WADDYA KNOW!!!! i can tell you for positivily sure, without a doubt, in 62 (car build date is feb, motor is jan) that they have the bulge on the crank.... what am i gonna do now??? the hole in the manual flywheel is smaller than the auto crank. and also has the bulge. does anyone have pistons/rings for a 196 that are .30 over or more?? i just need some usable ones. and a set of bearings? i guess if i wanted to do it real cheap like, i could pull the manual crank out of caspers motor, and use some steel wool and clean up the journals on the auto crank, drop it in. i dont like using the old bearings, but i have done it once before on someone elses rambler. thats the way he wanted it done. it ran just fine for about a year till i moved. never heard from him no more. anyway, if anyone has pistons, rings and rod/main bearings they can stand to get rid of, id really appriciate it. i dont have money to buy new right now. just trying to get another car on the road to have to drive for winter. i got good snow tires that will fit the 440h. my little 03 peon SUCKS in the snow. its about that time of year so..... dave stohler my rambler pics@ http://picasaweb.google.com/das24rules _______________________________________________ Amc-list mailing list Amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://splatter.wps.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/amc-list
