Yeah, now that I think about it, that makes sense, there would need to be
something done differently to balance the two (304 vs. 360) but isn't that
done on the flywheel, vibration dampener?
I have two 360s and two 304s, I never checked to see if there is more metal
removed from the counterweights on the 304 crank versus a 360 crank. I
remember taking a 70 360 crank from an Ambassador to the machine shop to
have the long time searched for 304 flywheel match balanced to the 304 flex
plate from the white 70 Javelin. I took a 304 piston and rod assembly with
rings from a 79 304 and the 70 360 crank. I also gave the machinist the 304
dampener off the 304 in the white 70 Javelin. When it all came back home,
the 70 360 crank had a little more material removed from one counterweight.
Does that seem unusual? Whatever the machinist did, he did correctly. The
engine doesn't vibrate at idle, nor at higher rpm either.
