Well you just never know what's been done to cars when they get this old! I don't know why I looked, but the line from the block to the head (where there's a T that takes half the oil to the filter in that crazy old system) goes off the front end of the main gallery. No surprise there... BUT! there's a boss with 1/8" pipe plug right above the gallery -- directly over the front-most camshaft bearing. There is also a cast in big "X" right after the block casting number and before the boss. This engine is a swapped in rebuilder (there's a tag saying so, and it's painted gold). Can't read the stamps on the driver side without some disassembly. Who knows what year it is...
