Bruce, JC Whitney carries the door weatherstripping. Match it up to a cross section of what's left. It's the generic mid 60s stuff, IIRC. It's sold by the foot. Use standard contact cement to glue it on. If a tube of house hold cement" says "apply to both surfaces, let dry for 5/10/15 minutes, then stick together" it's contact cement. Once you stick the two surfaces together there's no removing, so make sure the rubber is in the right place! Remove the old and clean the surface, then wipe with paint thinner, mineral spirits, or alcohol. Wipe the glue surface of the weatherstrip also. Apply a thin film of contact cement, then stick it on. When you cut to length, make it about 1/2" too long. Put cement on the ends once you work around and stick them together. You might need to trim it a little as the stuff does stretch a bit, but make sure you push at least 1/4" back at the seam and push it in. The weatherstripping will shrink just a little over time, the 1/4" gives you some extra. The windlace is pretty generic also. Not sure you can get the colors you need from JCW though. Mac McCoy (www.forrambleronly.blogspot.com) or Peter Stathes (www.amcrambler.com) has the windlace, and Peter also has weatherstrip and door felt kits. --------- Date: Thu, 30 Oct 2008 23:38:11 -0400 From: "Bruce Griffis" <bruce.griffis@xxxxxxxxx> Subject: Re: [Amc-list] Sound mats and belts. Hmmmm - tell me more. I need to replace the windlace and weatherstripping for all 4 doors on my '65 American sedan. How'd the truck weatherstrip work? Just pull the windlace off and replace it with the truck stuff? And the weatherstrip? Trying to decide between pretty stuff from a Rambler place, or inexpensive stuff as my wallet has melted and is nowhere to be found. -- Frank Swygert Publisher, "American Motors Cars" Magazine (AMC) For all AMC enthusiasts http://farna.home.att.net/AMC.html (free download available!) _______________________________________________ Amc-list mailing list Amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://splatter.wps.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/amc-list
