I've never seen anyone spray the head and block, just the gasket. Years ago I was also told you could use silver header paint on a head gasket as it was like 99% aluminum or some such high concentration. I have no idea if this is true or even if you can still get silver header paint! I know the story tellers said they used it. I always used copper spray.
