Tom, In keeping with your post - here is mine. I am hoping I was an idiot and did not do major damage, just dumb stuff. Here is today's lunch hour fun. I decided to start the car and let it idle to see if the rings would seat or the oil burn off or whatever would do whatever. I ran it for a good while (enough to smoke out the neighborhood - at least 10, 15 minutes. I pulled the plugs. Checked 'em all out. Number one was wet. Numbers two and three were black with carbon. Number four looked good. Number five was wet. Number six was good. I cleaned the spark plugs and re-installed them. Went to start the engine. No joy. Tried again. Checked wires (in case I didn't put one all the way back). Checked coil. Checked leads going to the coil. Did a lot of spark plug, sparkplug wire and lead checking. No motor love. Sprayed it with starter stuff. Hey! It wants to go! Sprayed it again. Hey! Pretty cool! Tried listening to the carb while I played with the throttle. Didn't hear that reassuring sound of gas. Hmmmmm. I filled it up not that long ago. I know I had a geyser coming out of the pump when I first replaced it - as I did a horrible job on the gas line. Replaced it and spouted gas again. Well, I went and picked up four gallons of the good stuff. It started right up. I think I'm moving getting the fuel gauge working up in priority. So - what is the theory behind all that blue smoke? I put Marvel Mystery Oil in the tank when I filled it. Later on I ran some Seafoam down the carb and put some in the tank. I'm thinking if that stuff didn't mix well with gas (which it couldn't as there wasn't much at all) - then I was just trying to burn oil. We'll see if that was the deal. It's still smoking like a diesel, so I very well could have bad things going on. But I could also have just plain old idiocy going on. I need to take it for a drive and smoke the neighborhood. _______________________________________________ Amc-list mailing list Amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://splatter.wps.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/amc-list
