Semi-custom interior, but tastefully done so that it enhances the car instead of detracts from it. If it runs as good as it looks it sure would be a nice one! Should be worth the asking price, if he can find a Rambler guy willing to part with the cash these tight-fisted days... I wouldn't do a thing to the 327 but add a TBI system. I think everyone has gotten over the big HP motors... at least they are starting to. There were THREE restored 199 cars in Atlanta! Usually see one or two at big AMC shows, but they didn't have the typical 60-80 car turn-out due to high gas prices and shortages all over GA (especially in Atlanta). I didn't have any trouble finding gas Saturday afternoon, only had to wait for one car ahead of me, but all 10 pumps at the station were full with 1-2 cars in line. I passed 5-6 stations with no gas to get there though. That was on the industrial side of town, when coming in we tried to stop about 25 miles before we hit I-285 (coming up I-20 from the east... SC). Only one or two stations had gas and there were long lines -- shades of the 70s!! No limits though. Later on some stations were limiting customers to as little as $20 @ $4.19 a gallon! Gas was hardest to find near residential areas (more people buying). Some people were driving 20-30 miles across town to get gas. That 327 would have to be babied to consistently get 18 mpg or so. Tom said 16-18... I can believe it, but bet 16 on the highway was more common than 18, and that means 12-13 in town. Now with a 232 it would keep up with most traffic (at least the economy cars) and get in the low 20s. It needs a 4.0L -- not a stroker, simply a stock 4.0L. Then it would get 22-24 mpg AND keep up with traffic easily, about the same power as the 327! A stroker would give it more power, but from experience it's not really needed, and you lose 2 mpg on the highway. --------- Date: Mon, 29 Sep 2008 08:48:22 -0700 (PDT) From: Greg Taylor <amundaza@xxxxxxxxx> Oh Yeah, that's sweet ... just needs a big block in it.? Oh wait, it already has the AMC Big-block that can be stroked to 417-cid ... -- Frank Swygert Publisher, "American Motors Cars" Magazine (AMC) For all AMC enthusiasts http://farna.home.att.net/AMC.html (free download available!) _______________________________________________ Amc-list mailing list Amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://splatter.wps.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/amc-list
