I did the American in a mix of Walmart/Lowes/misc spatter paints.
Mixing them to get the look I wanted.
They are a PIA to work with.
Make darned sure you start with one color.
All Black or Gray depending on the final look you need.
I forget what the original base looks like.
Anyway, the spatter does not cover fer, poopy...
I used a crap load, thinking, "oh, one more coat,er,can,er,case".
Finally got it good.
Last thing to note is the store brands I have worked with are all water based and need sealed with a clear or they will come off and degrade quickly.
I used a sain clear on mine and am happy with it.
YMMV....
I do like spater paint though as it adds an interesting look to some otherwise screwed up stuff.
