Thanks, Mark. I'll do your checks. As a note, the car is in first gear, but not shifting into 2 (and thus not into 3). There is a metal vacuum line on this car, not rubber, but I'll disconnect it at the modulator and check for vacuum. Also, I do have a new modulator to put on. My pan gasket will be in tomorrow, so I can clean the filter this weekend. - Justin > Date: Wed, 06 Aug 2008 14:42:03 +0000 > From: Wrambler242@xxxxxxxxxxx > Subject: Re: [Amc-list] tranmission adjustment help > To: "AMC/Rambler owners, drivers and fans." <amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx> > Message-ID: > <080620081442.24305.4899B83B0000ABC200005EF12215555884CDCBCD0A0C079D9F059D0E03@xxxxxxxxxxx> > > > Run an actual vacuum check on the modulator! > I've seen the hoses crack and not visibly leak. > With no first at all I'd suspect that possibly the governor is hung up? > If it does not slip and you live in a flat area driving it with second > and third will probably not hurt it. > I'd change the modulator if one can be had economicaly, then I'd suspect > the governor, probably repairable in the car, most are, by pulling the > tail housing, not easy in a torque tube car I know! > Last I suspect a hung up valve in the valvebody or a hard part failure. > > > -- > Mark Price > Morgantown, WV > 1969 AMC Rambler, 4.0L, EFI, T-5 > 2004 Grand Cherokee Laredo, 4.7L, Quadratrc II > " Chronic Pain Hurts" _______________________________________________ Amc-list mailing list Amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://splatter.wps.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/amc-list
