My 64 American and my 63 Classic had the 196's in thema nd back in the day I learned to drive them. I was young and beat them merclessly, Only killed two of the 4 for 50% kill ratio! Anyway All this talk of how to drive them makes me remember that yeah they did not have any bottom end torque to speak of, but once you got them out on the highway they did fine. I cruised quite a few stretches of highway at 80+ mph with them doing the work. Just don't try to pass anything if your allready going 80 and need to pick up speed to do it! -- Mark Price Morgantown, WV 1969 AMC Rambler, 4.0L, EFI, T-5 2004 Grand Cherokee Laredo, 4.7L, Quadratrc II " Chronic Pain Hurts" -------------- Original message ---------------------- From: Tom Jennings <tomj@xxxxxxx> > I'm not fussy or delicate, or easily upset, or whatever, but I really > feel like it took me months to really learn how to drive this thing > effectively.
