I currently have a Prestolite distributor in my 77 Gremlin but I had to replace it because of a bad vacuum diaphragm. The replacement unit (which I think I purchased from rockauto.com) has worked well. I cleaned the contacts on that low voltage connector and used contact grease as described by Andrew below and have had no problems. One weak point on these distributors was supposedly the vacuum advance mechanism.
