I too only part out what deserves to be parted out. Not savable cars, H#LL I have a 65 convert that should be sold of as parts, but in my stubborness I refuse to do so! I suspect that parted out good cars are usualy the victim of "not true car guys". Thses guys only see $$$, nothing else. They will spot keywords such as rare, nos, hard to find etc; all while destrying said vehicle... My victims of being parted out since returning to my ramblers and AMC's include, 2 68, 1 69 Americans, all rusted, one wrecked. I have sold of mush of the stuff I did not use and any of these cars was not a savable car by any account. Wel, on 68 four door could maybe have been saved, but it needed 1/4's, trunkfloor, fenders and an auto trans to start... The other victim of my parts scroungin was a 73 Hornet 2 door sedan with 60K original miles on it! Don't get too excited though, belonged to an old couple who bought it new and parked it in a dirt floored garage in the basement of their homw in western Pa, there wasa galvanised mateal sheets pop riveted to the top of the rockers and wrapped clear to the frame sections of the unit body!!! when I grabbed these and pulled they came off and the wasnot much left. I bought it of the surviving woman of the couple for $75 only because I felt sorry for her. It had not run in 5 years and I only had a two dolly to tow it home on! I was very nervous the whole way home that this thing would fall into pieces, but it made it home. In retrospect that car has provided me with many times the original investment not to mention the tilt column steering box and interior stuf Ralph got out of it! Allmost forgot the 990F "flood car". that has been the biggest deacle of parts cars, what a Piece of crap... Still holds it's 327 and some bits and pieces.I broke myself before I got it cleaned out and gone. Got to get that done. This summer I hope. I don't part stuff just to part it. -- Mark Price Morgantown, WV 1969 AMC Rambler, 4.0L, EFI, T-5 2004 Grand Cherokee Laredo, 4.7L, Quadratrc II " Chronic Pain Hurts" -------------- Original message ---------------------- From: "Armand Eshleman" <aje1@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> > I have only parted out three AMC cars, one Ambo, one Wagoneer and one 79 > AMX. the AMX survives to this day.
