My soon to be daughter in law's uncle has a rebuilt one (not sure how much he wants. He didn't listen to me when I told him the '71 258 DJ5 trans wouldn't fit his '79 AMG's 258 and coughed up @$1,000 getting it done)

eddie, i've been all over your entire site and it's awesome!  if you 
have a minute to help me out i thank you so much. i have a 74 AMC postal jeep 
(dj-5). my tranny went out. its in the shop and the mechanic tells me its a borg 
warner t5 tranny. well its an automatic and i dont think a t5 auto exists. 
everything i've researched says its an m-11. all i know is its a cast iron case, 
the torque converter has six mounting bolts to the fly-wheel, and its a really 
short tail shaft(about 25 inches from bell housing to tail). i deliver a 
route so this downtime is killing me. is there any transmission in another 
vehicle i can use? i got one from a 76 gremlin and although the bell 
housing bolts up, it's too long(about 36 inches) and i cant cut that much 
out of my drive shaft. or do you know of a parts distributor who 
carries rebuild kits for it? any solution you could present me with would 
mean so much to me. thank you again for your time.
