This is generally a bad idea long term (which I hope we were expected to read into this). The reason is that you'll never get all of the lube out which will cause grabby brakes. The lube (or brake fluid) may also break down the glue used to hold the linings to the shoes or the glue that holds the lining material together (it also may not but since I'm not a brakeologist, I have no way of knowing). Grabby brakes can send you into a tree (or oncoming traffic) and a failed lining will at least destroy a drum but could also cause a wreck. The brakes are the single most important thing on your car. It is never worth cheaping out on them. Other than getting me home in a pinch (which I'd call AAA for anyway), it's best to park the car until it can be fixed properly.
