I'll post another full progress report soon, but I
picked up the block last week and it had been honed
and the deck had been milled/planed a few thousands to
make it flat. The shop owner didn't tell me how much
but said that it DID need it and the amount would
cause a problem with pushrod length etc. This shop
frequently sees older engines and they know what they
are looking at. I took a 196 head in a few weeks ago
to check for cracks before selling it and they knew
what it was. I took the most recent head in this
week. The shop owner was finishing the installation
of a 312 into a 59 Ford. A few months ago there was a
huge crank and block from a 39 LaSalle waiting for
machining.
