The plate is located under the hood on the firewall, passenger side, between heater and hood hinge. It has all the data later plates have on it, including trim.

Like the subject line says, where is the data plate on
a 58/59 American?   Does it have the trim code on it? 
I'd like to help a friend order the proper upholstery
materials for her car.   Need that trim code.
