That's about the same width as the GM 2.8/3.1/3.4L family and the Ford V-6 (2.6-4.0L). The big problem with most of these engines are the width of the accessory mounts. They are wide -- usually mounted beside the engine. So you end up either making or buying custom accessory mounts if you have a narrow engine compartment like the 58-63 American. I looked at a Ford 2.9L in a Bronco II with the thought of putting it in my 63 American before I rebuilt the 196 years ago. The accessory mounts were the deal killer -- more work than I wanted to do! -- Frank Swygert Publisher, "American Motors Cars" Magazine (AMC) For all AMC enthusiasts http://farna.home.att.net/AMC.html (free download available!) _______________________________________________ Amc-list mailing list Amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://www.amc-list.com/mailman/listinfo/amc-list
