Did the compression check, and found a nice tidbit of information that tells me a lot, on a sticker on the door! 1 110lbs 2 125lbs 3 115lbs 4 115lbs 5 125lbs 6 110lbs Not bad for an old motor in unknown condition. The TSM says 140 psi new. It runs great so I ain't complaining. The interesting data is on one of those old fashioned paper stickers inside the door, from an ARCO station in Redwood City, dated 5 June 1975. All curled up and grey. Carefully removed it with a razor blade, glued it to a card and sprayed clear on it. Quite readable then. Oil change and lube at 64,486 miles, June 75. When I got the car from Joe in May this year, it had 69,400 miles, so it probably got sat out back soon enough after that oil change. That's 400 miles/year, seems unlikely. More likely is something busted/someone died, it got parked. It definitely sat for a long time. The other obvious answer is it got 100,400 miles in the last 20 years, but this seems most unlikely considering the condition of things. Possible though I suppose. If so, it was well cared for up to some point. Could explain the rebuilt motor. _______________________________________________ Amc-list mailing list Amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://www.amc-list.com/mailman/listinfo/amc-list
