" I don't know why everyone is so in love with those 70-up ball joint upper
" arms. They have their problems too!
their major advantage now is that parts - at least more of them - are
easier to find than for the trunnion setups.
" I know that the 64-69 AMX type trunnion has problems; I've not torn one
" down, but there's some weird rubber part that wears badly, and I don't know
" how good aftermarket urethane replacements hold up.
iirc the best aftermarket replacement is made from uhmwpe. this is
polyethylene with a molecular weight around 3 million - for
comparison, motor oil is about 30. i have a sample somewhere around
here, postcard size, 1/4" thick. it -clinks- when you drop it, very
hard. it's still polyethylene-slick.
