That;s why, when I read about the gear lube use in non wolrd class T5's I just shrugged it off. The most I would even consider is a full synthetic gear lube for it's low viscosity cold. I've run the 15W-50 in mine fo quite a while, some highway, some, city and I've not heard a single noise or had it pop out of gear at all. It's Mobile 1 too so no cold sticky stuff. I don't know what the lube had in it AMC spec'd but it was prbably somehwere in the 50W range and it was nasty brown color and smelled bad. IIRC, the manual at the time only spec'd the AMC lube and part number, sort of like Chrysler still does... -- Mark Price Morgantown, WV 1969 AMC Rambler, 4.0L, EFI, T-5 " I was different before people dared to be different" -------------- Original message ---------------------- From: Tom Jennings <tomj@xxxxxxx> > -- Wrambler242@xxxxxxxxxxx <Wrambler242@xxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: > > What year book do you have? > > AMC used a vile smelling liquid that was thicker then auto trans fluid. > > The aftermarket and rebuilt shops spec 70W-90 in non world class > > transmissions.
