Speaking of old-fashioned tire trends, now that Burning Man is over (and won't suck up all my cash and time until next summer :-) it's Rambler time again! This weekend I should be able to get the front suspension together and figure out what tiny stuff I'm missing, and start on solving the front shock problem. What's the story on white-letter tires these days? Google searching tire shops (discounttire, coker, etc) doesn't show much choices. With a 5" wide rim (wheel choices are poor for this car) I'm pretty much stuck to 195/70-15's plus or minus a profile or size or two (25.9" needed, though I could swap speedo gears, if it doesn't throw the well-chosen final ratio off much). Stylewise, for this 63 American twin-stick hardtop, I'm thinking of a 60's streetrod/rally car hybrid look, even though that's somewhat ridiculuous with a 195.6, it will look cool, and incongruity, well only people "our" age will laugh, and get the joke (and the fun) of it. I have nice genuine 60's Moon and other tachs for a six (courtesy the Navarro auction) and other details to go with like real giant Hella driving lights I bought in a flea market in East Berlin two years ago. _______________________________________________ Amc-list mailing list Amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://www.amc-list.com/mailman/listinfo/amc-list
