1-2 inches shorter may not fit at all. When I put a Delco alternator on my 68 American with a six, it hit the power steering gear box. A half inch shorter belt fit perfectly. I am assuming that the reason you are so close to the oil filter is that dimensions of the single wire alternator version are larger than the stock alterntor so that when you pull the belt tight the outer case is pressing up against the oil filter. If that is the case, a one or two inch short belt should do the trick. > > Regards, > Dan Curtis > > > _______________________________________________ > Amc-list mailing list > Amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx > http://www.amc-list.com/mailman/listinfo/amc-list > > > -- mhaas@xxxxxxx Cincinnati, OH http://www.mattsoldcars.com 1967 Rambler American wagon 1968 Rambler American sedan ================================================================= According to a February 2003 survey of Internet holdouts released by UCLA's Center for Communication Policy, people cite not having a computer as the No. 1 reason they won't go online. _______________________________________________ Amc-list mailing list Amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://www.amc-list.com/mailman/listinfo/amc-list
