Charles, there's only about a 50 pound difference between the late model (67+) AMC V-8s and sixes. 1981 and later sixes weigh about 40 pounds less than earlier models (~90 pound difference). They have lighter cranks and blocks, as well as aluminum intakes (vs. cast iron) and thinner casting exhaust manifolds.

what is the weight difference between the 258 I6, and the AMC V8s? I read
500-540 on a few websites; but I wanted to be sure.
