Re: [Amc-list] Javelin Clutch/Brake Assembly Interchange?

Mark,

What you're saying here I find quite curious, Oh, of course, 69 parts from
an AMX will fit 69 parts from a Javelin, but my experience with actually
holding the 68/69 pedal parts in my hand and comparing them with 70/71/72/74
parts showed clearly that the 68/69 are definitely not the same pieces as
the 70. Remember the 68/69 Javelins and AMXs are some what different that
the 70 AMX and Javelin. I believe the closer mate for the 70 year cars is
the later humpster Javelins/AMXs. But perhaps you are correct in saying that
if you use ALL the parts then you would be OK. Remember in my earlier post,
I was saying that I never compared the diameters of the fulcrum shafts for
the pedals, so that could be a problem, if they don't interchange, and you
are forced to exchange the bracket bolted to the firewall. I guess a guy
could always drill more holes in the firewall. If I remember correctly the
68/69 bracket bolts to the firewall with five fasteners, whereas the 70 and
later uses four fasteners. I wonder how much all this has to do with the
design changes for the dashes from year to year.

While we're at it, I had trouble finding the exact rubber boots for the
linkage rod that goes through the firewall and the clutch lever arm boot at
the bellhousing. I used stuff I found from a Jeep that was close but for
some reason not the same. Any one got a source for these two boots?

will fit in 70 if you use all 69 parts.
