.... Turbochargers don't turn "waste" exhaust heat energy into intake air. The velocity of the exhaust exiting the engine turns the turbine side of the turbocharger..... Dan, You have to be a little careful here, because the exhaust heat is the -reason- there is high velocity exhaust. If you cool the exhaust before the turbo, the pressure drops and so does the velocity of the flow. The heat is measure of the energy. This is why the best place to mount a turbo is right on the exhaust manifold. More heat = more power to extract.
