I'd do a simple test for input voltage with a voltmeter.
If the test voltmeter shows level voltage.
I'd check ground and then assume that he gauge as fought a courageous battle and succumbed to the ravages of time. I'd use my Rambler mentality an dlook for used one. Failing that I'd find a gauge replair place and have it rebuilt, Or tag one under that dash, depending on the the vehicle and my mood
