There's a gear head guy here in the Detroit area that swears by them and snags them up all the time ( along with his buddies). He's put them into his 5-window Chevy trucks. Says the real trick to longevity on the Olds 350 Diesel is to run Victor Series GRAPHITE head gaskets and ARP Head studs. Says the gaskets don't blow and the studs keep a consistent pressure on the gaskets (unlike the stock head bolts that stretch). He said the last on ran 225, 000 miles with no problems. He's also converting them over to run on veggie fuel. I suspect that GM's biggest mistake was to release the diesel engine in main stream cars. People weren't ready. My guess is the engines were beter than the care they were receiving. Local cab companies would change cylinder heads and intake manifolds converting the engines to gasolene when the injection system would fail, since the short blocks were still viable. I wonder how many injection pumps were ruined by pumping gasolene. _______________________________________________ Amc-list mailing list Amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://www.amc-list.com/mailman/listinfo/amc-list -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
