[Amc-list] $150.00 AMC 401 - Dreams -

What's reasonable? I saw one guy had a 401 for sale that had been left in
the rain, had dirt dauber nests in it, and the carb was missing. He wanted
$800.00.

Saw that Ad too - engine ran shortly before some Chevy Lover pulled
the Original Carb - not long ago either - leaving the hood up for
a short time.

Yes - any 401 / 360 would need a 'Freshening' hone - so what ?

A rebuildable unopened 401 for $800.00 ?



Last time YOU SAW a REAL 401 was: "..answer here.." .



I'd charge you $1,500.00 if it were mine,
and that's only cause your a List member;)
IF I wanted to sell it fast - and was leaving
town at the wrong end of a gun.


IF I HAD A 401 ?  -  it would never be For Sale - .


$2,000.00 for a Complete 401 will fast become
an AMC 'reality' - they 'ain't' a 304 nor a 360.


People are 'sleeving' damaged 401 blocks - salvage - .


The LTD production engine came with HD block 
and Forged crank 'n rods -
been out of production since ? 

aren't many left
unaccounted for....are 'The Darling' of AMC - >


$800.00 asking and you're incredulous ?


The 'old days' of $250.00 running 360s is gone.


RM is fine, but you'll pay in todays prices when
available.


I'm certain you might find a 360 / TQflite combo
around Memphis - not easily - best is to find
the Engine and then a Trans later....but look at it this way:


Do it now.


Store it 'till later.


Bet that $800.00 401 is "Long - Gone", Clarence ;)
