John, I don't mind your giggling at all. After all, I assume you bought one of these radiators too. I do however find your statement , "although you weren't there for quality control we figured since there was no way to effectively put a hose on it perhaps we'd put it where you could" , interesting. And your statement about it pointing directly at the steering box is ludicrous. Why would anyone attempt that? Enclosed find a pdf. of what I was talking about earlier. I know the list will scrub this so I will co-copy both you and Joe, since so far we are the only ones who have admitted buying the radiator. The factory radiator has the hose down low facing straight back. That was 70's technology. It must have been too time consuming an operation for PRD to weld the lower connection on at the bottom of the tank. Cross flow efficiency has nothing to do with it. The left side tank is tapered at the bottom. I assume that is the majority of the problem. Maybe the aluminum is not very ductile, I'm not sure, I don't know what grade it is, but it would not have been impossible to "fish mouth" (for lack of a better term) the tube in, instead your team chose to "butt" weld it in higher up where it was easy to place. Albeit at an angle. What I would have appreciated more was getting the radiator as a semi finished product with PRD only handling the processes they are capable of, like attaching the filler neck, (supplying the overflow nipple), attaching the mounting brackets (without slots machined in, I could drill my own more accurately sized slots), and then have them ship it to me with a loose lower connection tube at least six inches long that I would then have installed, and an 1/8" aluminum thread-o-let (half coupling) for the drain petcock. Same money. If you can arrange that for me I would happily return the one they sent me and call it even I pay return shipping they pay for the replacement to come to me, and package it so it doesn't get damaged. Ball's in your court John, I know you are a quality guy, hell you stuck you neck out trying to do us a favor by getting us affordable aluminum radiators in the first place. I very much appreciate that. FYI, Murphy's first law is not "if it can go wrong it will", Murphy's first law is " No good deed goes unpunished". To end this message, I refuse to believe that car guys like the PRD guys have to be, did not consider my approach to the bottom tube installation.
