I ain't doin that at this stage. > I looked up the 2.8 Chevy TB and found for one thing, there were at > least 5 different engine controllers called out for the S10 in 1984 on > the page of information I was on. I spent a lot of time lookin this up too; people have done it, but there's no simple "how-to". I know it's not entirely reasonable to expect a how-to for this sort of project. It's just that between time and money I just personally can't embark on a project of that scale, reasonable or not. Yeah, I want my cake and eat it too. There are a lot of GM controllers, I had a small list of them but the map tuning is the huge vague thing. Sensors and all that, that's largely fabrication work, that's the easy part. Megasquirt seems the obvious solution to the controller. There's excellent docs on sensors with it. Adapting the TBI is just fab work. The fuel system still requires research. I assume tight pressure regulation is the reason for circulation on non-OEM systems. (For OEM systems sticking the pump in the tank with two hoses is the cheapest and easiest solution, but I still think there may be a technically simpler solution for add-on that doesn't require modifyin the gas tank.) And I am not changing ignition systems again. > My fuel injection is an engine management system too. It also runs the > ignition. Once you've gone native it's hard to go back. But I'm just looking for a carburetor replacement. I'm just pickin the low-hanging fruit, not the whole tree. I have an old car, non-lockup auto trans, a steep axle, a big inefficient six. I only want to replace the next-weakest link, the carb. I already got rid of the weakest link, the weak ignition. I'm not interested in further improvement; it has no payoff for me. For $300 I should just buy another Weber. I may still do that. I've learned my lesson -- this project (my Hornet) is "done" -- if I want a new project I should build another car, rather than saw off the branch I'm sitting on! > Cost, > These things are not cheap to do. Yeah, it's all really cheap, except for all the parts! You're talking me into buying a new Weber for this car. _______________________________________________ Amc-list mailing list Amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://www.amc-list.com/mailman/listinfo/amc-list
