Re: [Amc-list] dana axles

A: XJ axle spring pads are in the same place as Eagle wagons (SX4 may be different) but the shock mounts are mirror imaged. MJ axles have no shock mounts (they are on the spring plates) and the pads are 1 1/2" inboard from Eagle/XJ. I saw one 2wd V6 auto '86 MJ with 2.72 geared D35 and tiny 205/70/15 tires! I would rather have 3.07 gears with an Eagle (in fact, I have the front non-vacuum axle of that ratio on my for sale pile still)

2 things against this for an eagle:
the zj has coil rear springs
the zj d35, like all post-'90 mopar axles, has a mopar housing
flange
pattern.

a possibility would be a '91-up xj or mj axle with the zj disks.
i
think the xj is spring-over like the eagle, but one of the shock
mounts is different.

3.07 is the tallest gear jeep d35s came with, but since it's
based on
the amc15 i don't know if there's any compelling reason the
eagle rear
gears wouldn't go in, at least the 2.73s.
