I wonder if they would use my Ambassador or American to build some AMC jigs and suspension pieces! Tempting, very tempting! Snip Not to forget the state of the art body replacement parts for all that tacky old rusty sheet metal. Thing of the impression you would make driving around with all those flat black body panels complete with space age concept air dams. I'd even bet that you could get one of those huge chrome or stainless steel echo cans to fit between the rear bumper cover and the ground with out hitting anything. Now there stands a true Renaissance Man! What a Trend Starter! Once you point out the benefits of tapping this huge market I am sure they would jump at the opportunity and write off the development costs by using your car to validate the jig designs! Sorry, I was so overwhelmed with excitement about the possibility of cloning an Ambassador out of something mundane like a Kia Speia that I forgot about the integrity of the thread. Please accept my humble apology. Bling must be preserved if only to realistically measure the height of a spoiler or identify the color of a disc brake caliper. Is a contact switch on the brake pedal linkage. If you have this system, the switch is most likely adjusted too close to pedal or the brake pedal return spring is getting a little lazy and the pedal is resting on the switch contact. 2. Is a pressure switch activated by pressure in the brake line. These pressure switches are usually mounted on the brake master cylinder or somewhere on the brake line itself. These are identified by 2 electrical wires leading to them. These usually fail to turn the lights on and seldom keep them on. I suspect that you have system 1 and some electrical troubleshooting will have the lights working in no time. In fact, the service manual tells you how to deal with this. There are a bunch of small parts that make up the switch and those can also fail causing it to come on. Repair kits for the switch are available from http://www.ramblerparts.com. The TSM says you have to remove and reinstall the switch guts to reset it. You may have to apply the brakes slightly to get the plunger out. I highly suggest looking at the diagrams in the TSM before doing this so you can see what the little parts look like. Ordering a repair kit may not be a bad idea either. Matt Sandwich Maker wrote: > " From: Don Johnson <donjohnson@xxxxxxxxxxxx> > " > " [] > " 1. Is a contact switch on the brake pedal linkage. If it's the former, chase away the bugs... if the latter, then (a) if you recently bled the brakes, as Frank points out, then you need to reset the switch on the combo block. RTFM TSM. (b) If you have NOT recently bled the brakes, you might actually have a brake system failure, like a leaking rear wheel cylinder.
