Why has no one ever asked on the list, since Dave has had the car, to help
out. I saw the car in Daytona, told Frank that I would take it long before
it came to Wisconsin, and have asked several times what the update is on the
car. But never once since the car came here has anyone asked for help. I
emailed Dave asking what the future is, ie. is Zion going to paint the car
or would they like someone else to paint it. The answer was he thought they
were going to paint the car, nothing else. It's not fair to single out
anyone in the midwest when all we've heard is the car is in the body shop.

wranglers used the tf999/32rh/32re until the early '00s - '04? grand
cherokees used the 42re from '94 to at least the end of 4.0 usage,
and it was possibly the 'new' post-32re wrangler tranny as well.
there must be dodges like the dakota that also used a500/42rh/42re
trannies up through the '90s.

this car like what charity are the proceeds going to?
What started the cause? What stage is the car at? Is
it painted or not? From what I know, it has been here
in the Kenosha area for a few years now (Zion IL. is
just over the border). I personally have never even
seen the car.

The 4.0L is significantly longer (by about 10") than the 2.5L. Dad used to own a Premier -- the 2.5L would be tight under that hood! The V-6 is a cylinder (about 5") shorter than the 2.5L four.
Look under the hood of an 83-92 Audi 5000, in the later years (90s?) called the 100 and 200. These use an offset radiator due to the length of five cylinder engine. I don't think even that arrangement would work for a 4.0L Premier though.

Are you guys sure? The AMC 2.5 seemed to fit in there just fine. Would it be
really all that much trouble, since the Cherokee, Comanche, and Wrangler
took both?
Again, I have no idea, so it's a legitimate question. I understand that the
4.0 is longer than the 2.5 (and most likely, significantly longer than a
90-degree V6).
But again, this is just a pipe dream, anyway. As much as I love AMCs (and
believe me, I do), I find myself almost as interested in the cars it built
and sold for the company that cannibalized them. If I could find a Medallion
in good shape, I'd take it over the Premier.

newer vehicles manuals online for $25 per year (actually, I think it drops
to $15 per year after the first). The info is organized just like the
factory manuals which can be either good or bad depending on the manufacturer.

Ram pickups and vans also used 42re's in the 90's. The service manual for
my 96 Ram has a sizeable section on that model.

Certainly don't want AMC controversy on THIS List -
was thinking about The Discovery Channel boys, I see
them around doing the Orange County Chopper series -
or the Barrett-Jackson Filming organizers - they've expanded
to doing some car theme shorts for the series -
if they have a spare crew & story line, they could shoot
the AMX as it departs to its' final phase [ what-ever ] and
follow it up to the Barrett-Jackoson Auction.
It does have a story line - a decent thematic thread - and
goes for Charity - and is AMC - which may give them something
to kick around on Air - for the entire show - making things
interesting.
Anyone know anyone in the Barrett - Jackson Camp ?

Yup, I agree. Just looking at the donors list is quite impressive. Wished it
was that easy to put all those people on the same page.
My own hope for the car is not that it becomes a "hot potato" however! Let's
try to keep it all positive so people won't search 'charity amx' and come up
with Shiites & Sunnis fighting over who did what, when, who in charge, and
so forth. Not really a time to start finger pointing. There will be more
Barrett-Jacksons, more auctions down the road, hope that ain't a problem if
not done by the 2007 one or if transportation can't be obtained to get it
from MA to AZ in time. Why not consider Auburn which is closer and a huge
(and sometimes nationally televised) auction?
I see the frustrations on both sides I guess! If I recall (and someone
correct me here if wrong) the car was supposed to be ready for the big 2002
Kenosha meet? I remember seeing it here in Houston for the AMO National meet
in 2001, at the host hotel, and loaded some donations into it! I don't
remember who brought it from Georgia to Houston though. I also remember the
cheers at the Alamo AMC http://www.alamo-amc.com/
regional in 2002(?) when it was driven under it's own power off the trailer,
courtesy of some of the San Antonio Alamo AMC people!
Hopefully the car will get back on track. As mentioned earlier, there is a
lot of donor fatigue out there, which may/may not affect this, hope it
don't. Just a thought but has anyone ever thuoght about changing the name of
Charity AMX to something like Benefit AMX or St. Jude's AMX?
And "mid westerners" aren't the problem, the problem is/was(?) like a
relationship, getting a committment! I believe Frank's words were possibly
misinterpreted on being 'pissed off at midwesterners' and being blown out of
porportion. If I recall the original game plan (if there is/was one) it was
to have the car move about the WHOLE United States from club to club and
individual to individual to have work done. The bulk of the clubs are in the
midwest for the national clubs if you look at where they are based. It would
have been great to have the car seen California or Oregon for instance, and
it was brought up here in Houston. In Houston we (the club) was too busy
with putting on the aMO 2001 meet to actually do anything, but stuff WAS
done, and parts donated, so it goes into the books, so hats off to the
Houston chapter.
Momentum is everything sometimes and in this case, the car went flat. It is
no one in particular fault either. Again, a look at the website shows a nice
array of donors and chapters and clubs who have stepped up to the plate.
Maybe everyone's lives have changed since 9/11. I mentioned donor fatigue, I
know I have a horrible case of it, and only thing I have done is club
benefits in last year, but no donations. Thanks Katrina, then Rita a month
later for that (my own opinion and donations).
Maybe this is what the car needs. Again. To be in the spotlight and some
PRESS again to keep it moving. Not bitching, just PRESS. And with the
exposure and it being in people's minds again might be the ticket. Let's not
give the old warrior too much baggage though, as it could influence a
potential buyer's decision down the road once done.

Yeah well I'm healing and still hoping for Andrews car.
My wife is going to kill me.
I'm depressed from sitting around for 2 plus months.
Got a pin in my collar bone that won't come out till the neck brace comes off on the 23rd of next month.
My back and neck have decided to finally start hurting!
To top everything off some dirtbag lifted my Mastercard number and tried to charge $500 on it! Now the card I use for Paypal is dead so no more paypal for the next week till I get another card. FYI the charge was tried to Epassport, so maybe they got compromised even though I've never signed up for Epassport!
