Hey everyone,

I've moved from El Lay to Glenwood Springs Colorado. Lots of plusses for
me, but the drive out towing my tools seems to have put the last nail in
the coffin for my transfer case. Yesterday morning it started grinding
and lurching something awful. I'm still looking for a place to live, so
I'm trying not to spend too much money. I'm looking for an NP229 or
NP129, close by, or within reasonable shipping distance. I don't know
anyone here, or where to call to try to find one, so that info would be
helpful as well. Thanks in advance for all your help...

I believe I have a 129 out of a parted-out Grand Wagoneer that someone dumped on me since its not very useful to the wheeling type of Jeeper. Believe is was an 84. Thought I'd at least raid it for its yokes or something. I'm not close to you, but it would be free + shipping if you were interested. I have my own FedEx account.

Just to toss a little more fuel on the fire.
If your thinking [not you personally Frank anyone in general] of placing a complete front suspension such as a Mustang II in any of these car how about stepping up to a "real" sports car front suspension that looks to be fairly closely priced to Mustang II componenets and be true to the handling theme from the get go.
What is he thinking of you ask? Well. I'll tell you 84-87 Corvette!
It actually appears to be a more complete assembly form the get go. Used assemblys go for $1000 or less complete, rebuild kits $6-700 or less, rebuilt racks [if needed] $500, Coil overs $3-400. Now none of this is going to be "cheaper" then a MII, but. It is all true sports car design. Now I know track width is close enough to work and this info is easy to find. I've not found the width of the factory crossmember of other pertinant info. Part of th ereason I've posted this is to see who out there may know more about this suspension. My web searches have left me curious and have not been 100% informative. Anyway back to the rambling.
Way more bling factory. Especially if done right come resell time.
What's going to look better on the build sheet? Mustang II or CORVETTE!
Weel, now I'll just run right out and buyone and get started! I should have this done by Tuesday, busted arm and all!!! Bwah, haw, haw, haw, awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!! Soundof footsteps running down long padded hallway, followed by several men with a straight jacket and syringes full of antiPsychotic drugs :]]]]
Have a great AMC day!!

Hi gang, not sure if any of you remember me, I've been on mega lurk mode
for at least a year now, been busy with finishing school, motorcycles,
and girls (now that's a bad combination if I've ever heard of one).
Graduated in May with two BSes in physics and math (anyone hiring?) and
moved back home to RI. I noticed Dave Borkman is in Saunderstown,
that's not far from me (currently in East Greenwich, RI). I've been
reading emails off an on, but just generally haven't had much time (and
of course was 200 miles from my car for four years). Some brown stuff
hit the proverbial list fan a while back, and that was when I really
sort of went into stealth mode. Glad to see familiar names are still
around.

Anyway, I got my '73 Javelin back on the road again and it's finally
nearing completion, or at least looking like it's complete. The past
few weeks I've gotten it running again (had a bad battery, and later a
bad starter relay), painted the wheels, fixed the brakes, cleaned up the
volcano caps and put them on, sprung a leak in the radiator, and a few
other minor things. And since I've got some spare cash I'm looking for
some parts I've been missing. I uploaded a few photos to my flickr
account and numbered some of the parts.

So here's what I'm looking for:
#1: Main driprail molding for the passenger side
#2, #3, #4: top, left, and right side front windshield moldings
#5: bottom rear windshield molding
#6: driver's side driprail corner piece
#7: the plastic clips that are used to attach the chrome trip on the top
of the door, I believe there are 20 in total
Pictures are here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/jeepcoma/228361705/

If anyone is in the RI/MA/CT area with any of these pieces, I'd love to
drive over there and pick them up.

One more thing, does anyone know the whereabouts of Bill and Marylou
Kareiva? I bought my Jav from them, they were in Windsor, CT but that
was long ago, I'm sure they'd love to see it. If you're on the list,
please email me!

I'm looking for a 4WD 727 for my Eagle. After towing my tools to
Colorado, the 999 has died. I'm planning on beefing this 4.0 Eagle up
for more tow duty, so I think a 727 is in order. If anyone has or knows
of one in central Colorado, please let me know. Thanks...

Instead of a MII suspension, why not keep it all AMC and put in a Pacer
front clip?

do you have a tranny cooler setup?

a 999 with a towing/rv shift kit would go a long way toward what you
want... in fact, you should probably put a towing/rv kit into the 727
too, if that's the way you go.

too wide. iirc pacer track is wider even than the '60s big cars.

this awakes something i read about back around '84. someone was
making lugs for a 'vette tube frame - cut and bend the spec tube per
directions, insert ends into lugs to reinforce joints, and weld - or
maybe even braze - together. bicycle riders can imagine what i'm
getting at.

it took stock front -and-rear- suspension subassemblies and iirc had
mount points for all the stock body panels too. i started wondering
if i could register one as a kit car...

my point is, if the front suspension is the right track for an amc
swap, the rear is too - and it's a similarly self-contained setup.
i've read about someone doing the f/r vette suspension swap into an
early nova, and for us that's dimensionally promising.

That's the reason I thru the logs on this particular fire.
Some of the similarities in the specs from the C4 Corvette to the 65 Ambassador is scary and has me dreaming bad thoughts!
It's the right track width within and inch or so.
The C4 corvettes weight was in the 3800+lb range, Close enough to handle even the heft of the 65 Convertible. The subrame from the Corvette is in actuality a big u shaped piece that comes so complete that even the upper control arem mounts stay attached when it is removed from the car! This thing is as close to a "bolt in" unit as you will find.
I will likely not go this rouote, but hsould I choose it the Convertible is a car that would be worthy of such a feat! It is rough enough most people would of junked it anyway. Yet sound enough to be worthy of this.
Now I've even went as far as measuring the width of the inside of the Ambassadors front subframe it is 30 3/4" if'n anyone is keeping track of this stuff.
Like I said I doubt I will actually do anything this insane, but who knows!

I wish I was closer, I've got a late 80's Wrangler trans in boxes in the shed I'd give him.
