The application is a 1977 258 2-bbl. The numbers should be in the emissions section of the 1977 TSM. Unfortunately, that year AMC divided the TSM into separate sections for body, chassis, powerplant and I don't have the powerplant book. My EGR is an aftermarket unit and I am replacing it. It doesn't have any reference number on it and I need to configure the new EGR valve the match the original valve. Thanks in advance. I max bid $145. on my 4 disc CD changer in my Dakota. The winning bid was $76! Boy was I happy! I also just spent $297 to buy the D&D 2.95 geared trans and input shaft that needs a cluster. I think its probably project-worthy, which sucks since I wanted to take the motor out and save it. I do have a friend with an affinity for old Waggies that is already asking me about it, so I suppose he could drop in a newer FSJ 360 with factory parts if he wasn't concerned with being correct. I have like 3 complete FSJ 360's with full accessories sitting around. It would also somve my titleproblem, as it would then be his problem. I know that band adjustment can be very finicky and years of gunk and road trash can make it something best left to the experts. One thing you can do though is make dead-sure the fluid level is correct, in Neutral, not Park. They're fine transmissions, but very fussy about fluid level. ------------------------------ Message: 5 Date: Wed, 12 Jul 2006 12:23:45 -0400 (EDT) From: adh@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx (Sandwich Maker) Subject: Re: [AMC-List] Driver Train Chatter To: amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx Message-ID: <200607121623.k6CGNj825891@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> " From: Mark Price <markprice242@xxxxxxxxxxxx> " " Look for an oldtime trans shop or a Volvo dealer or repair shop and " tell them its a Borg Warner and you would like to get the bands " adjusted and the fluid changed. They use a really hot filament inside a bulb (inside the sealed housing) that contains a gas that slows the burnout of the filament. I run them exclusively, and in plastic-grilled cars (75 Gremlin) absolutely no problem. I now run removable-bulb type headlamps (H4 bulbs I think). Cibie makes good reflectors; you can get equiv. reflectors from Summit. About $40/side for 8". Good ones have a half-moon light pattern that puts all the light on the road, not in drivers eyes. 55W lamps (more current) and I run relays and short, fat wiring to the battery. Both the 63 Rambler and the Hornet. (In the Rambler, the old headlight switch burned up, I had to rebuid the contacts myself (desktop surgery) and ran relays to take the load of the senile switch. That all happened before the Cibies. ------------------------------ Message: 7 Date: Wed, 12 Jul 2006 9:44:54 -0700 From: Mark Price <markprice242@xxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: Re: [AMC-List] Brought home a Vigilante over the weekend... The one I have for my Ambassador is a 68 Vigilante 327, 37,000 original miles! I paid $280 for it the Turbo 400 and the Dana 20? tranfer case and drove 10 hours round trip to get it! It all came out of a dealership plow Jeep that the rest of the Jeep rotted away due to salt and sitting all summer in a field! Inside of the engine is spotless! The guy who put it up on eBay was ticked when it only went to $280, but he didn't put a reserve on it! It was already out and ready to go when I got there to pick it up too! :] Take it out of the Jeep and give the rest to your friend. Let him deicde what he wants to do with it. Unless he is into restorations he'll pull the entire driveline and replace it with something more trail worthy anyway! [xenon projectors are supposed to be 35w, which imho is still too much] sealed beam halogens would be fine and might even run microscopically cooler, since they radiate more of their power as light. there are enhanced halogens that work afaik by coating the lens with a heat mirror, trapping the radiant heat and letting them run a 75w filament - with its light output - on 55w. i would expect these to be hotter since they can't radiate as much heat away and must conduct it. replaceable halogen bulbs can be had in several higher powers - 80w, 100w, 130w - but while you may get away with them it isn't strictly legal. ________________________________________________________________________ Andrew Hay the genius nature internet rambler is to see what all have seen adh@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx and think what none thought ------------------------------ Message: 9 Date: Wed, 12 Jul 2006 10:55:33 -0700 (PDT) From: Justin Shelton <justinshelton@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: Re: [AMC-List] auto transport To: amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx Message-ID: <20060712175533.48790.qmail@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1 Dan: I posted here about 2 months back asking about auto transport. I had never had a car hauled before, so went into it pretty clueless. My experience was bad. I put a bid out to like 10 different companies and their prices ranged from a low of $750 to a high of about $1150 to move a car from San Luis Obsispo, CA, to Chicago. I went with a comapany called Cosmin, they bid about $900 and swore that the car would not be moved off and on different trailers as it wound its way Cross Country. I was flexible on shipping date, just needed the car moved in the next two months, or by June 30. Well, these folks pretty much d*cked around and could never seem to schedule the car for pick up, and to make matters more irritating, they never contacted me, I always (politely) contacted them for updates. After about six weeks they told me that just couldn't seem to get anyone to pick the car up in SLO, and would I possibly get it down to LA for them???? Ha ha ha! What the hell am I contacting a shipper for if I was physically there to move a running/driving car??? Anyway, I pretty much gave up on them then and have made a solemn vow to let anyone who asks about car shipping to NOT do business with this Cosmin company. Incidentally, I still do not have the car here, but it is at a friend-of-a-friend's house near Monterey, CA. I am having the car brought to me by a friend next time he comes from California to Illinois, probably in mid-August, and I'll pay only about $500 to get it. I guess things always do work out in the end, just not necessarily how we want . . . . - Justin > Date: Wed, 12 Jul 2006 14:32:56 +0000 > From: "dan whitehead" <freebird_58@xxxxxxxxxxx> > Subject: [AMC-List] auto transport > To: amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx > Message-ID: > <BAY111-F13E049510DDDD0382A236494690@xxxxxxx> > Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed > > A while back there was talk about having a car > shipped and the good price > the party got on the shipping.
