I looked at some pics the listing agent sent me of the quarters and engine compartment of this car, Sorry I deleted them and can't forward them. They took up too much space on my email. Anyway, this car looks fairly rough in the add, It is WORSE in the pics the broker sent me! The core support top was cut out with a TORCH. The drivers and passenger inner fenders have been Hammered back to around their original position! The fenders have cracks in them and I don't believe the are replacements, but rather the fenders that where on th ecar in the accident or the damage is from another source. The quarter panels are major scaled rust coated monsters. They will dissappear if they are stripped of rust. It's a major restoration project at best a parts car more likely. Yet, today I see someone has bid $2000 for it. I hope it's not soemone who did not request more pics.
It's a shame, The car is one of the few cars I would do a restoration on. It is an almost exact replica of the hardtop I drove in highschool and we lost in a garage fire! Same color, same interior. It has what I would have dreamed of in the old car we had. It is a Convertible! It is a twinstick car! I told my wife about asking about it, She was/is not pleased, but I don't have to wonder about it after seeing the close up of it.
  Steer clear of this one!

It's amazing how far soem of these topics wander so quickly, yeah, I don't know why I even said 904-999! for an automatic it would be AW4. Stick would be a T-5. Or a seventies Ford overdrive 4 speed that would hook to the column for column shift! You could even use an overdrive cable for a reverse actuator. Just don't forget and pull it when going forward!

Maybe they are out there, haven't tried local yet, but the only listing is a 3:08 gear. I prefer 3:31-3:55 range with the 2.95 first gear trans. The 8.5 mainly went into ZR2's and the are like 8" wider then the two wheel drive axles!!!

I hadn't thought of the Astro, But I need to find width and disc brakes.
If I'm going to upgrade I want it ALL! :]
When I get the ZJ rear discs for the XJ I may try a quick test fit on one of my AMC15 axles as dependingon offest and the hub diameter the ZJ brakes may bolt onto the AMC15. That would be easy, but still leave the two piece axles. which I figure are the weak link in the picture anyway. I'm somewhat afraid that once I put the World class T-5 in it I'll be a little more prone to dump the clutch once and a while! With the 255/60/15's and the 4.0L making as much power as some of the small 8's. I'm guessing it won't be too long before I break SOMETHING!

As far as I know all Jeeps use solid unvented rear rotors.
I'm in the process of buying a set to swap onto the rear of my 97 XJ.
I prefer the vented setup on the S-10, but want a bolt on setup for the XJ.
I don't care about the 4 3/4" bolt pattern as my wheels are dual pattern, plus if the S-10 axle is only an inch narrower I can use 1/4" spacers on each side and be good to go. The first wheels I had on came with 4 1/2" backspacing. the current wheels are 4 1/4" two 1/4" spacers would do the trick.

I know it is from sitting outside as my American is in the garage 24/7 most weeks and the rotors are fine on it.

Park over plastic, like someone suggested already, and put a
60W light bulb in a cheap reflector on each wheel to keep them
warm, which will stop condensation. Just needs to be warmer
than ambient.

Tweaking the first flair back into shape after paint stripping. After
stripping it took 5 hours of clamping an heating and cooling and heating
and cooling just to get just one flair close to the stock configuration.
What a pain. I will prime it and install it on the car to let the
85-90+ hot and humid weather acclimate it to the cars shape for a few
weeks before I paint it and the others finished at the time to match the
car. I have really had to think out of the box on a lot of things I have
had to do on this car that I never had to do before. The car is
waaaaayyyyy over the original the original budget I figured on but the
results so far are specular!! :-)

I am selling off my 1969 Rebel SST $2400 obo.

Car is mosport green metallic with off white roof two tone with green interior. NO ROT, body is an old mans car body ( meaning a few minor dents. ALL fixable, fenders however might just be easier to replace with good ones. I have a line for a pair of good fenders I will refer the buyer of the car to the person with the good fenders I was working a deal with). All chrome and bright work is in good shape. Front Bumper is bent but should be straightenable w/o damaing the chrome. Both bumpers chrome is in great shape. Interior is in GOOD condition. Carpet excepting, and package tray is shot( that would be the rear deck for some people). Dash is unwarped and uncracked. Seats are untorn, just need some cleaning. Split Bench with column shift. Some recent extras are a Mahogany Grant steering wheel with correct adapter. new turn signal switch. A custom secondary wiring harness was added. Has 5 20 amp circuits available. Stock wiring harness is UNTOUCHED. My secondary
wiring is not interlinked with the OEM harness at all. The secondary harness drives the Mallory (providing fused protection) and a switch controls power on signal to the mallory. Switch is located in a custom pannel that replaces the old verticle mount am radio. Also in that pannel is the mechanical Oil Pressure guage. Secondary harness was installed to allow a no cut install of ignition and 100amp 1 wire and to drive any new power accessories I added. It is OVER wired to handle any need I had for it. It can be removed without damage to car or to OEM harness if one doesnt like it.

I had begun to recolor the interior to black. Currently only 3 parts have been colored.

Grill is in good condition.

All lights work, horn works.

Rear driver side tail light lense is broken. I have a NOS still in the AMC box replacement lense in perfect condition.

Comes with a brand new Optima Red Top Battery.

Windshield has small crack on drivers side ( someone must have poured water on it when it was iced up some time in the past)

Engine is the origional 290 with some work as follows:
-rebuilt heads ( about 10 miles since rebuild about 3 months ago), positive valve seals, crane springs
-4bbl stock intake
-NEW 600 CFM edelbrock carb
-Distributor has a new cap and rotor + Pertronix ignitor magenetic breakerless unit installed.
-Mallor VI AL with rev-limiter
-Summit Black with chrome pully 100amp 1 wire alternator
-Summit "big" cam
-Summit Timing Chain
-Summit Lifters
-Crane Valve sprigns ( to match cam)
the 290 is origional and old. I would recommend a rebuild. Runs and drives GREAT but the oil pressure shows low on the mechanical guage. ALso if you sit out of gear and bounce it off the rev limiter ( set to 5800rpm) it will smoke some. During even hard driving it does not smoke however.. at all.

Transmission shifts fine, does not appear to slip. This is the aluminum bodied BorgWarner. Included is a replacement M-12 Tranny.

Also included are a 343 that is torn down and stripped, ready for a tank and rebuild. Missing only the propper flexplate and harmonic ballancer for the 343.

Also included is a bunch of extra brightwork, a window crank for the driver side ( replaces the one in the drivers side door that is missing a few teeth), and a stud welder/dent puller to aid you if you are into that sort of thing, also a few misc extra interior parts like arm rests.

Also has a front disk conversion off of a Concord. ALL NEW parts save rotor were used (hose, calipers, pads, master cylender, wheel berrings). New Wheel cylenders in the rear drums as well. Needs a new brake booster. Stops fine w/o booster hooked up. Brakes like a manual brake car. I prefer power brakes.

Detailed Pics available on request. Just ask. I have already shot pictures detailing every body flaw.

Lookee what I done started! LOL! The starter isn't that hard to rebuild. I
think a Chev starter kit will work in it, even though it's probably a
Prestolite. I think auto and std are different.

also sat on it for a few weeks until I could retrieve it.
Unfortunately, there was no title. If its not that difficult to
resurrect, I may go through the trouble of getting a title made.

Details: 3 on the tree, don't happen to know the gears. Light
blue interior & exterior, bench seats. Breather was present in
the cargo area. I'm primarily a Jeeper, stick to AMC-powered
vehicles, and saw this as a good opportunity to learn more about
the older motors. Here are some pictures:

One question I have is about the starter. It was present (you
can see it n the floor in one pic), but off the motor and
seemingly intact. The Seller explained to me that you can't get
replacements anymore and it would have to be rebuilt. Any truth
to this? If so, can someone recommend a reputable shop,
preferably in the Detroit Metro area? If not, I'll ship it out.
