i want to retain my bench seats, but the shifter on the mustang t-5 looks a little far back. i am on a tight budget, and would LOVE to have the tko 500, but i wont be able to afford that. i wont have any problem with shifter location then. i have been told there are bellhousings that bolt up to a 304 and a t-5. just have to figure out what cars had that combination so i can raid them... as always, i am very open to other ideas and suggestions. dave stohler camp taji iraq ++ When I installed the 1940 Ford HURST floor shifter into my 1950 HUDSON Commodore eight - my bench seat wouldn't clear the shift stalk at all. I spun the stalk 180 degrees which put the lower bend pointing forward - for clearance - eyeballed the seat edge when just short of usual setting, and measured distance to dashboard - heated the stalk and bent it back toward the bench - just clearing both the seat edge and the dashboard. During exhuberant shifting exercises racing Duster Lites on Broadway - my right hand knuckles meshed cleanly with the Art Deco ribbing on the Dash. My suggestion is to cut the shift stalk and bend up something to fit - weld it back on. Good Hunting !
