O.K., a few more moments was spent in researching my files and this is what I came up with for what ever it is worth. SNIP but the last year a-bodies had the 8 3/4" was '71. SNIP Usage: Heavy Duty, Built: 57-74, A-Body: 66-72, B-Body: 62-74, E-Body: 70-74 Rear Axle Installation Dimensions A-Body ?60-76 track 55.56? Perches C-C 43 ? B Body ?62-70 track 59.20? Perches C-C 44? B Body ?71-79, R-Body ?79-81 Track 63.4? Perches C-C 47.3? E-Body ?70-74 Track 60.70? Perches C-C 46? Note these are Chrysler?s Spec. Actual parts may differ and often do! (is that really a surprise?) All 8 ¾ axles built for A bodies carry a small-bolt 4? lug pattern and small 2 5/16 register flange. This can be changed to the 4 ½ ? pattern by swapping in axle shafts with hubs in the larger pattern. Then B-body 10 or 11 inch brakes bolt up to the A-Body housing and fit the 2 13/16? registers on the new axles. This gives the option of using standard AMC wheels on this axle. For other options check aftermarket sources. Hope it is useful somewhere John. _______________________________________________ AMC-List mailing list AMC-List@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://www.wps.com/mailman/listinfo/amc-list or go to http://www.amc-list.com
