just an fyi -

i've just learned that while the initial jeep zj had the aw4, the
remaining '93-5 had the 42re with a standalone tcm.

the 42re is considered fragile in jeeps, but it may be something as
simple as the heavy t/c stressing the case, cracking it.  mopar used
the core tf998 with 360 v8s...
