I'm not as sure of final color as I once was after looking this over more on Sunday. The Convertibles chrome is mostly not, It is stainless. I will have to think about what I intend before going too far as I disslike the black engine compartment. Which is what I will likely end up with if I go black and wait for paint. Overall trim is in much better shape then I remembered. I've got time. This will be the cars second major reworking that I can tell. Third, at least, paint job. The car was originally metallic light green/blue. Someone stripped it and painted it light blue, non metallic. I mean it was stripped! The trunk was sprayed under the convertible well, eninge compartment, everything. It must have been down to the point I will be taking it for the color change to be so complete! I guess at some point someone else thought it was worth the effort! -- Mark Price markprice242ATadelphia.net Morgantown, WV >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Date: Mon, 23 Jan 2006 07:59:33 -0500 From: farna@xxxxxxx Subject: Re: Sunday To: mail@xxxxxxxxxxxx Message-ID: <ADVANCES62VKi3s1wsX0000028f@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> As long as you realize this is a long-term project, I think you'll be satisfied. 3-4 years from now you'll be glad you saved it. I'd re-think the "rat rod" paint and such though. It will be worth more in the end as a semi-restored 990 convertible than a cheap street rod. If it was a four door or two door post sedan (don't think there was one in the Ambo line) I'd think differently. Even a half-decent Maaco paint job would be better, especially since it's a 990. But it's your car, and there's plenty time between now and getting it painted!
