The bellhousing pattern on a iron duke is the same as a small block chevy. The bellhousing pattern on a AMC 2.5 is the same as a 60* 2.8 V-6. They don't interchange. The good news is that T-5's where used in tons of S-10's with the 60* V-6. The bad news is I believe the trans case was the GM case and is different from the one you will have. Some XJ's used T-5 transmsions for short period around 1985 Find one of those and you are set. The bellhousing will be your biggest stumbling block as far as I can tell. I believe the AMC 2.5 has the proper bosses to mount the front axle on the Kammback, but check to be sure. Start researching things before you jump in, but I believe there are probably other sources for the bellhousing for this combination. The clutch will need to match the flywheel for the 2.5. That I'm not sure of either. -- Mark Price markprice242ATadelphia.net Morgantown, WV >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Message-ID: <20051201010022.48709.qmail@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Date: Wed, 30 Nov 2005 17:00:22 -0800 (PST) From: Jesse <j2sax@xxxxxxxxx> Subject: AMC 2.5 (NOT iron Duke 2.5) Expert Advice needed To: mail@xxxxxxxxxxxx I thought that someone mentioned that the AMC/Jeep 2.5 (based on the 258) had a GM pattern Bellhousing. So, here's the situ... I was going to replace the Iron Duke in my Kammback with a 258/4.0 head/T5/2 spd TC. However, I have come across a F.I. 2.5 4 cyl CHero wrecked. Will this Jeep 2.5 fit bolt up to the current 4 spd in the car? I am sure that some fabrication will be needed in the way of making it work with the engine crossmember, but I can handle that. Will the clutch plate work? I guess the throwout assmbly will work if it does. What I REALLY would like to do would be to put the FI Jeep 2.5 with the T5 since this vehicle has 3.54's and full time 4WD. However, I don't guess the GM pattern bellhousing would allow the T5 to be bolted up would it? It is a T5 from an SX4. I know some of you are thinking "screw this and go with the six" however, with Gas prices as a consideration I think this would be a cool combo. The 2.5 would have ample power for the Kammback considering it's light weight compared to the CHero. And light weight vehicles can do really well off-road. (you ever watcht the Samurai's blitz the trails?) Additionally there are a lot of aftermarket mods available for these from Borla Stainless exhaust stuff to Supercharger kits (LONG LIVE JEEP!)
