So for all I know the double O-ring business are mismatched parts.
THere's a whole story to be told in the head gasket area. One of
the RAMBLER headgasket boxes has a roughly hand-cut incomplete
gasket made out of some beige material. There's a lot of gasket
goop in the head (sealer and O-rings only? no gasket?) There's a
lot of gaskets here, and no documentation.
======= =======
I recall a bull session from K&G Speed in Pa.
about double O- ringed blocks with the head
having an O-ring on the head that would sit
between the block O-rings.
IF this is the case with your shortblock, then
that would explain the Fibre Gasket & Goop.
Brien.
