It makes an even bigger difference if you use stainless steel fasteners to
attach the block/carb and even the intake.

Thanks for reminding me that I was going to send you a note. You had the
right idea about using a spacer between the carb and intake. We ended up
having to add one to my son's Matador. If you drove it and then it sat for
an hour or two it was very hard to start. We decided that the carb was
picking up too much heat from the engine. The spacer seemed to make a big
difference.
